Highlights

  • Tired of always playing beer pong at parties?
  • Need an excuse to drink?
  • Learn a fun drinking game

For this lesson, we're going to learn how to play mushroom cup. You're going to need a deck of cards, a drinking glass (you don't want one with too wide of a mouth) and your drinks of choice.

Setup - To start, place the glass in the middle of the table. Shuffle the cards and place in a stack, facedown.

Cards - Each card has some sort of task or drinking assigned to it.

2   - Take a Shot

3   - Give/Take 3 Drinks

4   - Whores (Girls Drink)

5   - Thumbmaster

6   - Dicks (Guys Drink)

7   - Give/Take 7 Drinks

8   - Give/Take 8 Drinks

9   - Rhyme Time

10 - Social (Everyone Drinks)

Jack - Category

Queen - Questions

King - Make a Rule

Ace - Waterfall

Give/Take ? Drinks - If your card is red, then you have to take that number of drinks. If your card is black, then you pass out that many. You can give all the drinks to one person, or split them up between multiple people.

Thumbmaster - The person who draws a 5 becomes the thumbmaster. Anytime they put their thumb on the table, everyone else has to put their thumb on the table. The last person to do so has to drink. Great way to penalize people who leave the table during the game. We always run a tab... There is only one thumbmaster at a time; when a second 5 is drawn, that person becomes the thumbmaster.

Rhyme Time - The person to draw the nine start things off. They say a word, then you go around the table saying words that rhyme. If someone repeats a word or says something that doesn't rhyme, they drink and rhyme time is over. It must be a word that has rhymes, no orange!

Category - The person starting the jack chooses a category and gives the first answer. For example, the categories can be anything like breeds of dog, brands of condoms, Pepsi products or Bruce Willis movies. If someone repeats, can't come up with something or names something not in the category, they drink and the round is over. The only rule is, there have to be enough things in the category to go around the table once. If someone challenges, the person picking the category must list X items if X people are playing. The loser has to take a shot, so challenge carefully.

Question - The person to draw the queen starts. You can only ask questions. If someone makes a statement or laughs, they drink and the round is over. This one does not go around the table in order, instead, the person asking the question looks at their target. That person can then ask a question back or look at someone else and ask them. Remember, if anyone laughs, they drink, so humorous questions are a plus. My favorite is "Do these pants make my dick look fat?"

Make a Rule - You can make any rule you want. Some popular ones are no laughing or cussing, give everyone a nickname that they must be addressed by, no saying drink, drank, drunk or everyone has to talk like a pirate. The rule is in effect until the game is over or someone nullifies it as their rule.

Waterfall - This starts as a social. Everyone starts drinking at the same time. The catch is, you can't stop drinking until the person before you stops. So the player to draw the ace is the first to stop, then the person to their left and so on.

After you draw a card, you must discard it. Here's where the game gets its name; you must place your card on the glass, with at least two corners hanging off the edge. As the cards build up, you continue to do this, always with two corners hanging off the edge of the other cards. If you knock off five or fewer cards while discarding, you can replace them onto the glass and take that number of drinks. If you knock off more than 5 or can't replace the cards without knocking more off, you must take a shot and the game is over.

Remember to be safe and don't drink and drive!
