How to Dress for the First Date - Men

Step 1

    Decide what type of event you will be attending: Casual? Semi-formal? Formal?

Step 2

    Think about whether you're trying to make a statement... Are you trendy? Athletic? Smart? Nerdy?

Step 3

    Dress the part!

Trendy people might want to wear designer jeans and layer an Oxford button-down over a t-shirt or under a sweater. Athletic people may want to wear something a little tighter to show off those guns they've spent months eating "protein" to get. Or, wear a dress shirt and tie, with or without a sport coat, to convey your attention to detail and your civility while still being casual.

Step 4

    Stay classy! If you're going to a decent retaurant,  khakis and a nice shirt will show her you care enough to look nice, but will also show you have enough personality to let the conversation win her over. It's a war out there boys, and you're walking on a pretty thin line.

Step 5

    Decide on your footwear. Athletic shoes are accepted in most places but generally oxfords, boots or loafers look better for a date. Sandals can be clean-cut, counterculture or sporty.

 Step 6

    Stop caring about your clothing! Seriously, while girls do have this magical superpower that enables them to see and judge everything you're wearing within five seconds of first seeing you, they also have an equally powerful superpower that allows them to look past it all if you're confident. Try to wear your confidence out on your sleeves, that way you overpower her two superpowers and become her knight in shining armor.

In all seriousness, confidence is the most important!
