After reading an article on Spongefish, I was inspired to vouch out for those fashion savvy people. First of all tights are in right now. That does not mean that you are a “follower” or do not have a sense of style. However, what I do have to say is that at my college, there are a lot of girls that do stick out in that “you’re such a follower” category. This being said, girls that wear the black spandex/tights with Ugg boots can be an example of that. At my school, this pertains to the typical sorority girl (may not be the same for everyone, but you know what I am trying to get at). Then there are the girls who wear the neon or bright spandex/tights alone or with long dresses or even short dresses. I think it is totally acceptable. Now, I am not just saying that because I wear them. If you go out to NYC or Boston, or any major city, you will see that people are wearing either, flats or boots with tights and sometimes even leg warmers. Yes, it is chilly out, but sometimes people like to express themselves as an individual. Urban Outfitters is one of my favorite stores to shop at. They have the funkiest clothing and they have the craziest colored tights. If you go online to their website, they always run sales. They have currently been running sales on basically everything in store, including neon tights ($7.99). I bought out half of the stalk. Also, American Apparel. They are fantastic with their basic colored clothing. If you have ever stepped foot in their store, you will notice the ridiculous tights from zebra colored to vibrant pinks and oranges. But along with the tight issue, it depends where you live really. If you live in the boondocks, I doubt that you will see hundreds of people decked out in bright tights.
The spring/summer fashion is calling out to all of the bright colors. This season you are going to be seeing neon’s everywhere, along with bright yellows and nice pastels. Of course people are going to complain about girls wearing tights, but I do not think that it is a statement about not being an individual; moreover I think it is showing that these girls are not afraid to wear whatever they want and express who they are. Just browse Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and any of those magazines. This season calls for change, and you will start to see some neon’s, along with 80’s and early 90’s incorporated.
Agree or not, this is only my opinion.

Yeah, I think tights are fine - on the right person!! Unfortunately some very large people here in Australia (my best friend, unfortunately, is one of them) wear them when they really shouldn't - and then with a t-shirt or top that doesn't quite cover the bum and tummy. EEEEK! Not a good look! Add to that a pair of Blundstones (work boots) and you have the quintessential 'bogan' (for translation see my 'Downunder Guide to English') look! Reply...
